Parallel reality films get me going. They explore the always-present-in-my-mind suspicion that there is more to this world than reality, that the choices we make don’t always have a single outcome & that somewhere, sometime else a person just like me is leading a different life, in a world similar to this, but strangely & sinisterly
These are my favourite 7 parallel realities films, which have stuck themselves in my heart & won’t hear my reasons when I ask them to leave
Enjoy

Mr Anderson – Keanu Reeves - lives in today’s world. He’s got a job as a programmer in a company where suits treat him as incompetent. Secretly, Mr. Anderson leads a second life as the dangerous hacker Neo, aspiring to reignite his boring existence by bringing the corporate web down & setting people free. His inspiration is legendary cyber terrorist Morpheus – played by Laurence Fishbourne. Through the beautiful and gritty Trinity – Carrie-Ann Moss - Morpheus approaches Neo to make him part of his team & free the world
But freeing the world doesn’t mean breaking into computers. It means accepting that the world Neo lives in doesn’t exist, it’s a daunting parallel reality where Neo’s entire life was only a manipulated digital illusion, and reality is a grim, dark world where the sun has been erased. And worse? This parallel reality - called The Matrix - is protected by trained programs masquerading as humans, and led by the glacial Agent Smith – a fabulous Hugo Weaving. This realization will horrify Neo, but also give him a chance to fight back through spectacular martial arts sequences
